Elis Åslund, Abisko, Arctic TundraThis early 20th century oil painting by Swedish artist Elis slund (1872 1956) depicts a snow covered view in Abisko, Sweden. Abisko is a wilderness deep within the Arctic tundra and home to spectacular scenery, rivers, birch forests and trails. slund travelled over 1,300km to get here from his home in Stockholm. But travelling extensively was nothing new for this seasoned wanderer. Here, amid icy cold conditions, desolate trees, and dramatic peaks,
