I was inspired to paint this plover because while on a long beautiful hike along the Oregon coast, a part of the path in the middle of the sand dunes with a sign that asked everyone to not leave the trail because the threatened Western Snowy Plovers were nesting in the area. They are the only coastal, bird species to exclusively nest in sand dunes. We actually saw one, what a joy! Im
