19TH CENTURY GREEN GLAZED FRENCH POTTERY JUGFrench 19th Century green glazed pottery gargoulette or cruche . Hand thrown in terracotta and finished with a rich emerald green lead glaze across the upper body. Provence, Circa 1880. Traditionally used for carrying water from village fountains, the vessel displays the classic Provenal form with an elegant arched carry handle above the mouth, a projecting pouring spout and a secondary side handle.
