Mary lived at the French court for much of her youth and went on to marry the Dauphin Francis (the heir to the French throne). In 1559, Francis was crowned King of France and Mary became Queen, but their reign was brief. Francis died less than a year later and Mary returned to Scotland. These earrings feature the
